Introduction 
Ajmer is an ancient pilgrimage town which is located in the state of Rajasthan. It is situated on the banks of the Ana Sagar Lake at an altitude of 486 meters above sea level. The city was founded by Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan in the 7th Century A.D. Ajmer is situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by Ajay Meru ranges of Aravali hills. Along with architecture it is an important place of pilgrimage for Hindus as well as Muslims. Muslims call Ajmer by the name of Ajmer sharif while Hindus call it Tirthraj Pushkar. Ajmer is a perfect place that can be symbolized for demonstration of Indian culture, ethics and display of perfect blend of wide plethora of diverse religion, community, culture, linguistics etc. all coexisting and flourishing in peace and harmony. Festivals 

Urs Festival
The major and famous festival in Ajmer is the annual Urs of Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. This festival is held during the month of May every year and a large number of devotees belonging not only to the Muslim community but also of other religious communities come here to worship. The feeling of peace and serenity that shrouds one while moving to the Dargah, listening to the strains of Sufi music is an enchantment in itself.
Places to visit 

Daragah Sharif
Daragah Sharif is the major attraction of Ajmer. The Dargah is the burial ground of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and a number of devotees, not just from the Muslim community but from all other religious communities of India come to this holy place. It is located in the center of Ajmer and shows the magnificence of Mughal architecture. During the holy time of the annual Urs festival, the place is flooded with thousands of pilgrims.

Nasiyan Jain Temple
The Nasiyan Jain Temple, popularly known as the Red temple is another religious place which is quite famous amongst devotees in Ajmer. The temple reflects the color of Jain era and the architectural beauty of the temple is also quiet striking. The temple is dedicated to the first Jain Teerthankara.

Pushkar Lake
It is the major attractions in Pushkar which is created from the beautiful petal fallen from Brahma's Lotus. It is said that here, the Lord Brahma destroyed the demon Vajra Nabha. Pushkar Lake is like a miracle which is located in the dry and arid areas of the desert. This lake has numerous ghats where lots of pilgrims do numerous hectic activities. Here one can wash away their sins by just taking a dip in the lake.

Ana Sagar Lake
The Ana Sagar Lake is a landmark in the history of the city and it has seen a number of ups and downs during the rule of different dynasties. The lake is surrounded by many magnificent attractions such as the marble pavilions of king Shah Jahan and pretty shrine of Khobra Behroon. Moving around the lake is a peaceful and pleasurable experience. The picturesque views of the place in Ajmer are enough to take away ones breath.
