History 
Kanpur is a historical place and wrapped with royal and divine tales. According to the legends, it is believed that the city was founded by king Hindu Singh of Sachendi and it was then known as Kanhpur. Even its name itself has a prominent story in one of our great epic, Mahabharata. It is believed that Duryodhana rewarded this region Karna for his excellence in bravery in comparison with Arjuna. That is why, it was previously named after Karna and was called as Karnapur. Soon it had been converted into Kanpur. It is said that it was once named as Kanhaiyapur following the name of Lord Krishna and afterwards transformed into Kanpur.

Buddha Park
Buddha Park is a beautiful park which is located between the Bara Imambara and the Martyrs Memorial in Kanpur. This park has been a recreation and relaxation ground for the children and the aged for a long time now. This park is also populary known Gautam Buddha Park.

Allen Forest Zoo
Allen Forest Zoo is one of the most famous zoo which is located 2 kms away from the city of Kanpur. This zoo is home to mammals like White Asian tigers, rhinoceros, Asiatic lions, cheetah, hyena, leopard and jaguar. The main attraction of the zoo is the botanical garden, which holds the collection of some of the rare species of plants.

Moti Jheel
Moti Jheel is a lake and a drinking water reservoir in the Benajhabar area of Kanpur. The jheel has adjoining gardens and a children's park, which make it famous attraction. Constructed during the British Rule in India, it is one of the most important recreational places in the industrial city of Kanpur.

Gurudwara Banno Sahib
Gurudwara Banno Sahib is one of the most famous Gurudwara located in Kanpur. There is a 350 years old manuscript of Gurugranth Sahib which is certified with the signature of Bhai Banno Sahib in the Gurudwara Banno Sahib. There are an endless number of tourists who visit the Gurudwara Banno Sahib in Kanpur in India every year.
