Introduction 
Vadodara is one of the most cultured city which is situated in the western state of Gujarat. It is the third largest city of Gujarat after Ahmedabad and Surat. It is the administrative headquarters of Vadodara District which is located on the banks of Vishwamitri River. The city is also known as Baroda and is well known for its grace and royal beauty. Vadodara is also famous for its majestic palaces, parks, famous temples and museums. Due to its rich culture and tradition, it is also known as Sanskari Nagari.The city is famous for its Garba celebrations during Navratri all over Gujarat. During this festive occasion, Raasa and Garba dances often continue past midnight. The city of Vadodara is a major industrial hub of glass and pharmaceutical industries. It is also renowned as a one of the centers of academic excellence. History
Vadodara history dates back to 812 AD. The city was ruled by Hindu kings until 1297. In 1297, the Hindu kingdom of Vadodara gave way to Delhi Sultanate: the control of the city passed in the hands of the Sultans. It was ruled by Gujarat Sultan during 1573. The Gujarat Sultan ruled the territory for over a century. After the Sultans, the Mughals came to the throne of Vadodara. The Mughals were followed by the Maratha rulers. The Marathas came to the throne of Vadodara in 1730s, after defeating the Gujarat Sultans.

Places To Visit 

Laxmi Vilas Palace
Laxmi Vilas Palace is a major tourist attraction of Vadodara. It is a huge building of the Indo-Saracenic school that was built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1890. The palace houses a remarkable collection of old armoury and sculptures in bronze, marble and terracotta.

Sayaji Gardens
Sayaji Gardens is one of the most beautiful garden which is situated in Vadodara. It is also popularly known as Kamati Baug. It spreads over an area of 45 hectares. The garden is named after Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, who built it in 1879 on the river Vishwamitri.

EME Temple
EME temple is one of the most famous temple in Vadodara. It is popularly known as Dakshinamurti Temple.

Kirti Mandir
Kirti Mandir is one of the most famous tourist place which is situated around the Sursagar Lake in Vadodara. It is the cenotaph of the Gaekwads and built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in the year of 1936 to perpetuate the memory of his ancestors.

Makarpura Palace
Makarpura Palace is also one of the most famous tourist attraction which is situated at a distance of 7 kms away from the Vadodara city. This was built in an Italian Renaissance style and has a facade of three storeys each with an arcade running around beautiful gardens.
